Highlight – Life’s Accomplishment 3

Self-assessing and investment in myself through education and training gave me a stronger foundation, better insight, and power to carry out my life’s mission and what I believe – God’s greatest commission, “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled” (Luke 14:23). Mr. Gene Bell, retired CEO of Housing Authority City of Asheville told me, “If you see an issue and are in position to do something to help, you have two choices – you can can do nothing and complain or you can assess and take action in making a difference.” Those words still resonate in my mind, heart, and soul. Those words serves as confirmation that all doors God opened for me to walk through – the actions I took – were the right choices.

Stepping outside the box and leaving Asheville to see other parts of the world was an eye opener. Living in Honolulu Hawaii, California, Washington State, and visiting Senegal, West Africa was dreams manifested and most empowering. Numerous roles and position i.e. Federal Women Program Manager, Military Family Support Group Leader, North Carolina Guardian ad Litem, Therapeutic Foster Care Provider, working for the Federal government, and etc. all enhanced my ability to press through and to God’s greater plans for me. Those travels, positions, and roles allowed me to grow, to explore, and to implement all of life’s gold nuggets given to me. Most importantly, all of those opportunities also opened doors for me to share with others. They empowered in taking actions and making a difference in this life’s journey. No matter what you may encounter in life, directly or indirectly, never give up! Don’t be afraid to step outside the box and walk through the open doors. Press on. There is a blessing on the other side.
