Highlight – Life’s Accomplishment 1

In 2007, I became a published author. A Mother’s Cry: he’s still my child was therapy for me, empowering to other mothers and fathers, and educational for others. The book was written to be used as a tool to teach. I wanted the challenging children to know their choices impacts the whole family – not just them. I wanted to invoke deep soul-searching thinking. I want the world to know that most single parents take their parental responsibility seriously and wants the best for their children. The educational and judicial system tend to treat single parents and those living in public housing as if they don’t to do right by their children. Although it may apply in some cases, there are always exceptions to the fact.

The book was placed in the Swannanoa Juvenile Detention Center (now closed); and I was contracted to speak at the center. I sent the book to incarcerated friends in the state prisons. The book was placed in the hands of Judges. Many acknowledged they received a different perspective in reading the book. Some admitted they had never looked at those standing before them as somebody’s child. They had only looked at them as numbers. Parents, at wits end, dealing with challenging children purchased the book. Friends and family purchased the book for loved ones and friends. I’m pleased to know that writing and publishing the book is not in vain.

The book will be edited and republished in 2025. Much has changed – for the better.
