LIFE MOVES FAST

Remember when you were a child? Remember when your children were babies? Events last year? As you see, life waits for no one. Every day that we are still here is a blessing from God. It’s an opportunity to serve him, encourage someone else, and build up his kingdom. As we are living in the last month of 2025 and preparing to enter into a new year, I have been looking over my life.

January 17, 2025, my life changed within a blink of an eye. I went to work and left an empty home; but returned home with five children to care for - and did until this month of December. I looked at the month of November and it remembered how fast life moved me within events. I spent Thanksgiving (three days) with my son and daughter-n-law. The following week, I flew to Chicago for the annual National Reparation Summit being held in Evanston. Within the three days being there, every day we moved quickly for tours, ceremonies, and informational sessions. Hadn’t done that in a while. The unplanned and most impactful event was visiting with an Ashevillian…a friend of a friend … and now my friend. A group of women fellowshipping, sharing stories, and laughing was a wonderful and empowering way to end the trip. I remember those days and plan to gather with friends more often.

The week before leaving Asheville, I attended two doctor appointments with a sick friend. Two days after returning from Chicago, I received a telephone call stating she was in the intensive care unit and I needed to come to say my final goodbye. As I set in her room looking at her hooked up to all sort of tubes, I remembered the fun, the laughter, and the fellowship we shared. I was reminded to not take life for granted. I was reminded that things can change within a blink of an eye, a breath, or a heartbeat. I was reminded that tomorrow is not promised and there is no guarantee we will live through a full day. I was reminded to cherish every day and live it to the fullest. Follow your dreams, forgive, rebuild relationships, call or visit someone, and tell them you love them. Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Life moves fast. Here today. Gone tomorrow. We are constantly moving and changing. How are you moving?
